Cajuns Sign JUCO Transfer Goodlett

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head football coach Mark Hudspeth announced on Thursday the addition of junior college player Christian Goodlett, who signed a National Letter of Intent during the mid-year signing period, for the 2015 season.

Goodlett, a defensive back, will have two years of eligibility remaining for Louisiana and will participate in spring practice which is slated to begin on March 3. The native of Lawrenceville, Ga., played two seasons at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College where he was a two-time All-Jayhawk Conference honorable mention selection. The six-foot, 185-pound product selected the Ragin' Cajuns after being recruited by Big 12 schools Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

"We're excited about Christian joining our football team," Hudspeth said. "He's going to be able to come in and compete right away for a position. He was highly recruited coming out of junior college and we're fortunate to get him here. We think he'll be a great addition to our defense."

Goodlett earned All-Jayhawk Conference honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2013 after recording 69 tackles with four interceptions and 16 passes defended for HCC. Goodlett earned NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording six tackles and returning a fumble 99 yards for a touchdown in a win over Fort Scott (Kan.) CC.

As a freshman for the Blue Dragons in 2012, Goodlett recorded four interceptions with 66 total tackles, two tackles for loss and 11 pass breakups.

Louisiana, which finished 9-4 in 2014, will officially open the 2015 season on Sept. 5, 2015 when it visits SEC opponent Kentucky.
