Head Coach Mark Hudspeth and his staff are well on their way to signing the highest ranked class in UL Football history. The Cajuns could well end up with several more highly rated athletes come Wednesday morning after the fax machines stop running, but this weekend the 2015 Class grew by two after the commitments of Tylertown HS, Miss. OLB Joe Dillon and Magee HS, Miss. LB Alonzo Green.
Joe Dillon finished his senior season with 65 tackles (27 solo, 11.5 for loss), 13 QB sacks, 6 QB hurries, 1 interception and 3 forced fumbles. The 2-Star visited Memphis on January 16th before taking an official to USM on the 23rd and Louisiana on the 30th. The (6'3,230) played in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game. Dillon camped at UL in June last summer and was offered the Ragin' Cajun staff, but decided to commit to Southern Miss. in August, preferring to stay close to home.
Alonzo Brown (6'0,215) was a Mississippi Class 4A All-State pick at Magee, after finishing his senior season with 160 tackles (102 solo, 4 tackles for loss) 2.0 sacks and 1 interception. He was picked for Mississippi’s annual North/South Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game and an All-State baseball player. Brown also had interest from Memphis and Southern Miss.
The Ragin' Cajuns still have several slots left to fill and several big names are possible on National Signing Day including 3-Star athletes DL Mario Osborne, JC CB Trestin Decoud and DL Courtney Wallace.
