Every class begins with 300 to 400 athletes on a board the prior year and with early evaluations of underclassmen at football camps. Coach Hudspeth and his staff have a methodical system in place, and as a team work together to identify and fill the programs needs in each recruiting class. Along the way, the assistants also have a little good natured competition on which coaches have recruited and signed the “Top Bulls” in each class. The 2015 class still has several spots open, but is considered the best in the UL football programs modern history. So which of coaches did bring in the top talent in the 2015 class?
Offensive line Coach Mitch Rodrigue landed a very talented group of athletes in the 2015 Class that includes 3-Stars Scout.com #45 DE Mario Osborne and #65 South DB Terik Miller, #142 RB and Top 50 Mississippi Walter Williams and Alabama Gulf Coast MVP QB Chris Weaver. He also added two big bulls to his position depth chart in offensive linemen Robert Hunt and Rico Robinson.
Coach Reed Stringer doesn’t take his role of Recruiting Coordinator lightly and the group of athletes that he recruited is a very impressive list. At the top of his list of recruits are 3- Star athletes Keenan Barnes Top 33 Mississippi and #65 RB Jordan Wright Top 50 Mississippi. In addition to the two top headliners are Mississippi Top 50 Athlete Ja’Marcus Bradley, All-State OL Kevin Dotson, All-State DB Kamar Greenhouse, OL Cole Prudhomme and punter Steven Coutts.
Coach Jorge Munoz also recruited what is considered to be his best class in his career at Louisiana. Coach Munoz stocked his position in the depth chart with 3-Star #141 WR’s Gary Haynes and Michael Jacquet #148 athlete in the nation. In addition to the two headliners, Munoz has recruited WR Jarrod Jackson and OL Ken Marks; A really nice haul in the 2015 class.
Not to be outdone, Coach Jay Johnson came away pulling down an impressive group of athletes as well in the 2015 class. At the top of the list is 3-Star’s Scout.com #90 QB Dion Ray and PK Stevie Artigue, Top 50 Mississippi prospect LB Joe Dillon, All-Acadiana athlete Ethan Rose and Mississippi 4A-All-State LB Alonzo Brown.
