Tyler Brown Talks UL Offer

Donaldsonville HS (La) junior QB Tyler Brown (6’3,185) is one of Louisiana’s top returning prep passers in the 2016 class. Brown recently picked-up his first FBS offer from Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns head coach Mark Hudspeth and took time Monday to talk to the Cajun Redzone about his recruitment.

Tyler Brown is coming off a very productive junior at quarterback for Donaldsonville HS, passing for over 3,200 yards and scoring 40 touchdowns. While the offers have been slow to come for Brown early this spring, the Ragin’ Cajuns saw his potential in their New Orleans camp last summer and wanted to be the first to offer him an FBS scholarship. Tyler Brown spoke to us Monday night about his first FBS offer.

“I went in to watch one of their practices during the week and when I returned home Coach Hudspeth had invited me back for another practice on Facebook,” Brown stated. “I told Coach Hud I couldn’t make it back for another practice because of school and he told me they would work with my school to make sure everything was okay for me to come back for another practice. Once I came back, I felt something was going to happen and then Coach Hudspeth told me after practice that he wanted to be the first FBS program to offer me and the was exciting.”

“I really like the program at ULL and the staff,” Tyler mentioned. “They offered me at athlete, but they had seen me workout out at quarterback at their camp in New Orleans last summer. They are building nice facilities and they are a program that is on its way up. They have a great fan base and have won four straight bowl games. Right now, I’m looking for the right program fit for me and what position I play is not as important to me.”

Brown has received a number of letters from other programs and some college coaches are looking at him on the defensive side of the football at defensive back and others as an athlete. With spring practice to begin later this month, what camps is Tyler Brown look at attending this summer?

“Beside ULL right now I’m going to LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas and Tulane,” Brown said. “Some of them want to look at me at defensive back and others as an athlete; so I plan to work out on both side of the football at wide receiver, quarterback and defensive back. I expect a few more programs to come by during spring and visit my school. The ULL camp I’m going to will be in Lafayette this year.” Keep an eye on Tyler Brown, he has the athletic ability to garner more offers during the camp circuit this summer.
