Texas All-State Linebacker Tanner Holmes committed to the Ragin' Cajuns after attending the Louisiana camp Saturday afternoon. The Newton HS (TX) athlete was named 2014 First-team all-state selection by TSWA and Honorable Mention all-state by AP. He was also named the District 11-3A-II Defensive MVP after finishing his junior season with 194 tackles, 42 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 6 PBU, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception.
Tanner Holmes recently attended a Texas A&M camp and has offers from Central Arkansas and McNeese State. He also has interest from the Aggies, Baylor, Texas Tech, UTSA, Texas State, Louisiana Tech and Stephen F Austin.
With interest from other programs, Tanner Holmes was clear why he decided to make a decision to commit to Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns now.
"I've grown up being familiar with UL and I'm also a fan," Tanner stated. "My family loved them and that grew on me. We've had friends that played baseball and softball in the program. For them we've always been Ragin' Cajun fans for a while. I love Lafayette also, its a big fun town with a great atmosphere and a lot of school spirit."
