Woodard Will Play Defense for Louisiana

Gentry HS (MS) DL/OL Phabian Woodard (6'4,308) committed to the Ragin' Cajuns to play defensive lineman. Woodard spoke to the Cajun Redzone about his commitment to Louisiana!

Gentry HS (MS) DL/OL Phabian Woodard took his time in accessing interest from college football programs attending camps with Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Louisiana this summer. At the end of July, the Ragin' Cajuns and Coach Mark Hudspeth was the only offer he was holding. Instead of waiting until later this fall, Phabian made his decision now, committing to the Ragin' Cajuns.

"Well I decided to commit because I really like the coaching staff and the program," Phabian stated. They showed so much interest and love. They made me feel like I'm part of the family there and it just felt right."

In an interview earlier this month with Scout.com recruiting analysts Steve Robertson, Woodard stated that Mississippi State and others would watch him this fall, but he told the Cajun Redzone he decided not to wait on other programs.

"I felt that ULL would be the best fit for me," Woodard said. "It really didn't matter what position they wanted me, I'm willing to them what I can do."

"They (Mississippi State) were telling me that they wanted to evaluate me in camp and then see how I do in the fall," Phabian mentioned. "I made the best decision for me."

Phabian Woodard joins Ponchatoula HS Jahaziel Lee and East Feliciana HS Trav'Vontae Booker as Ragin' Cajuns commitments on the defensive line in the 2016 class.
