Several state newspapers noted Nic Wiggins committed to the Ragin' Cajuns, but no one knew exactly when the Baton Rouge native made a decision to add his name to the list of commitments in the 2016 class. The Cajun Redzone contacted with Wiggins via private message Tuesday night to verify his commitment and get him on record. One of the Ragin' Cajuns top defensive targets since spring, Nic Wiggins quickly responded that he made his decision Tuesday afternoon after visiting campus and the staff.
"I committed to ULL today, after visiting with the coaches," Wiggins stated via text. Wiggins visited the Ragin' Cajuns during the spring game and attended the first UL camp in Lafayette on June 5th. During the camp, Wiggins flashed his speed running a 4.42 forty and showing his quickness off the edge during pass rushing drills.
Wiggins camped with Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana and Southern Mississippi this summer. He also held offers from Colorado State, Memphis, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Southern Mississippi, ULM and McNeese.
One of the reasons Wiggins committed now to the Ragin' Cajuns was the opportunity to play early and the facilities.
"I definitely want to play as a freshman," he said. I just wanted to go where it feels like home and I can get a chance to play. I also wanted to play in a program with good facilities."
With the commitment of Wiggins, the Cajuns continue to add talent on the defensive side of the football in the 2016 class. He joins Breaux Bridge HS OLB Korey Louis, Holy Cross HS LB Jacques Boudreaux, Newton HS TX LB Tanner Holmes, Helena HS DE Brett Granger, Phabian Woodard Gentry HS DL, Tra'Vontae Booker East Feliciana HS DL, Jahaziel Lee Ponchatoula HS DL, Edward Hayes Coldspring- Oakhurst HS DB, Damar'ren Mitchell Magnolia West HS DB and Blair Brooks Thibodaux HS DB, on the defensive side of the football. You can follow me on Twitter@LouisianaScout
