The Ragin' Cajun's football staff were waiting on local Cecilia Raymond Calais Jr. product's decision to commit to the UL football program, Monday night they received the news they were waiting on. Raymond announced his decision via twitter around 7:55pm Monday night stating, "sat down with my family and decided my final decision on where my football career will continue. I've prayed on it and my heart is telling me to stay home and become a Ragin' Cajun. I would like to thank my parents, all my high school coaches, and the community for their support. All the glory goes to God, without him it wouldn't be possible."

Calais is the 20th commitment for the Cajuns’ 2016 class. He also had offers from Louisiana-Monroe, Southern, Southern Miss, Nicholls State and McNeese State. He also reported late interest from Minnesota and Stanford, both programs were interested in visiting him.

With several P5 programs showing late interest, why did decide Calais make his final decision now when he was scheduled to visit the Ragin' Cajuns on the weekend of the 30th?

"Making the decision to stay home and play for the Cajun wasn't that hard at all. I would've been made the decision sooner but Stanford and Minnesota was showing lots of love! At the end of the day, after praying and talking to my parents, UL was the place for me!"

Calais was an all-state honoree each of the past two seasons and was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A Offensive MVP this past season after rushing for 2,618 yards and scoring 31 touchdowns. As a junior, Raymond rushed for over 2,228 yards and 25 touchdowns. Calais was also The Advocate’s All-Acadiana Offensive MVP each of the past two seasons.

Former Cecilia football star Montrell Carter and current Elijah McGuire also played roles in helping the all-state athlete make his decision to play close to home.

"No doubt, I talk to Montrell when we see each other and watching both of those guys play at UL made me want to play for them.
