Texas WR Enjoys Trip to Louisiana

Texas Friendswood High WR Andre Gautreaux has flown under the radar during the summer, but a few programs have taken interest in the fleet athlete. Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns are one of those programs that has shown interest in Gautreaux this summer.

The Louisiana football staff has gone through the summer hosting camps and evaluating high school talent. Once again, the staff is evaluating high school athletes in Texas and Andre Gautreaux is the most recent prospect to visit campus. What did 6'1" 185lbs WR from Texas think of his visit down to Lafayette?

"I thought the facilities are really nice, the new field turf looked good. They had a nice indoor practice facility and the campus looked great. This was my first visit down to UL and I was impressed with what they have in place."

While Andre had never been to Lafayette or visited Louisiana's campus, he was familiar with the Cajun football program.

"I attended the game against Houston a couple of years ago, they won that night. They threw the ball around in that game and the offense looked similar to what we run at Friendswood."

Gautreaux runs 4.49 forty and has a 34" vertical leap. He was named Texas 23-4A All District with 22 receptions, 460 yards for a 20.9 avg. and 6 TD's. Andre will have many opportunities to add to those stats playing with Texas Tech commitment Jacob Karam.

"We throw the ball 80% to 90% of the time in our offense. Our QB Karam committed to Texas Tech recently and he can really throw the ball down the field. Our offensive will be explosive this year."

Academics will not be a problem for Gautreaux, as he scored a 24 on the ACT and completed the 2007 year with a 3.5 GPA. TCU, Rice and Houston have shown interest in Andre as well this summer.
