Godfrey Waiting for First Offer

Eunice High senior safety Troy Godfrey is entering football season looking for his first college offer. What programs are contacting Godfrey and what does he think of the Cajun program?

Troy Godfrey is entering his senior season hoping to pick-up a few offers early. The 6-3,190-pound athlete attended camps this summer at Louisiana and Northwestern Louisiana State, but has not received his first official offer yet. Which programs have been in contact with Godfrey and were do the Cajuns rank on this list?

"TCU emailed me this week and they are interested in my game film and plan on attending a few games, said Godfrey." UL and Northwestern have been in contact with me as well. Coach Fouquier has come by the school several times and he spoke to me after the Cajun prospect camp."

What did the coaches have to say after the prospect camp and what did Godfrey think about the Cajun football facilities?

"Coach Fouquier told me to work on my forty time, I ran a 4.69 at UL, said Godfrey." The week before, I ran a 4.62 at the Northwestern's camp and that was my best time this summer. I thought the facilities were nice at UL; it was the first time I had been on campus. I can see myself playing on Cajun Field and I told my mother this week I really would like to play at UL. But that depends on them offering me a scholarship."

Before Godfrey gets any offer, he has some work to do in the classroom and on the ACT. Godfrey completed his junior year with a 2.1 GPA and scored a 16 on his first take of the ACT. Under NCAA eligibility standards, Godfrey would not be eligible. But Troy is confident that he can raise his core GPA and score high on the ACT.

"I'm schedule to retake the ACT in October and have been studying this summer to help raise my core GPA. I have some work to do, but I know that I can raise my score on the ACT."

Godfrey is has garnered interest from several other programs recently in Colorado and Connecticut, but neither has contacted him yet.
