Quarterback Michael Desormeaux threw for 253 yards and ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns to lead Louisiana to a 44-27 win against Kent State on Saturday night.
Senior RB Tyrell Fenroy added 194 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 23 carries for the Ragin' Cajuns (1-2).
The Cajuns outgained Kent State 667-396 in the game.
Kent State quarterback Julian Edelman's 11-yard touchdown run started the scoring, but a field goal and Fenroy's 5-yard touchdown run gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 10-7 lead at the close of the first quarter. Edelman's 42-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Bayes once again gave the Golden Flashes a short-lived lead, as Desormeaux's 5-yard rushing score and Fenroy's 69-yard touchdown scamper put Louisiana on top 23-14 at halftime.
A 6-yard Edelman touchdown run made it 23-21 at 11:07 in the third, but Desormeaux's 55-yard scoring pass to freshman Ladarius Green and Fenroy's 1-yard scoring rush highlighted a span of three-straight Ragin'Cajun touchdowns that sealed the game early in the fourth quarter.
Julian Edelman ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while also passing for 81 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Golden Flashes (1-3).
