Goggins Has Interest In Cajuns

Kentwood High athlete Tevin Goggins is known for his speed and athleticism in the open field. The Cajun coaching staff likes his skills on the offensive side of the ball, how did Tevin like his visit to Louisiana?

Tevin Goggins has received some attention from high school football experts last season when he was named to the Louisiana All-State 1A team has a athlete/return specialist. But as the Kentwood Kangaroos have quietly gone about the season, finishing 5-4 in District 7-1A and qualifying for a playoff spot; Goggins has caught the attention of college recruiters. The speedy athlete visited Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns this past weekend and spoke to the Cajun Redzone about his visit.

"I really like UL, Tevin said." "It's a place I would like to play my college football. The coaches stated that they like me at receiver position, so I was a little surprised."

What did the coaches tell you about the receiver position and the opportunities for a scholarship?

"Coach Wingerter told me that they have one prospect that has been offered and has visited four times, said Goggins." "They are waiting on him right now, so coach told me that they like me and he would be calling me to come back in again for the next home game."

At 5-9,170-pounds, Tevin uses his speed at the wing-back position in the Kangaroos Wing-T offense. The Cajuns aren't the only program interested in Goggins service.

"I was supposed to trip up to Monroe at ULM, Tevin Said." "But my dad couldn't drive me up that weekend. The coach called and offered me on the phone; he said I could play either receiver or defensive back."

What did the Tevin think of the Cajun football facilities?

"The indoor practice field is a state of the art facility, Goggins said." "We were able to look at the weight room and the locker room as well. I really like the field when we walked out on it before the game; it looks like a good playing surface."

Kentwood High will face off against Catholic Point-Coupe this Friday in the first round of the sate playoffs.

"We watched them on film and they have a good team, but we should be able to beat them at home, said Tevin." "We will be ready to play Friday night."

Academics are not a problem for Tevin Goggins, as he has scored a 20 on the ACT and currently maintain a 3.9 GPA.
