The Cajuns are looking for quality athletes on the defensive side of the ball. The latest search for defensive talent has led the staff down to Miami, Florida and Columbus High School. The Cajuns have offered Columbus High DE prospect, 6-3, 215-pound Caesar Rodriguez. Caesar spoke to the Cajun RedZone about his interest in the Cajun football program.
"I first heard about ULL at a youth summer camp in Conroe, Texas, said Caesar." "Someone mentioned to me that the university had an excellent Engineer program and so my interest grew in the school."
Which coach is recruiting you from the UL football program?
"Coach Jenkins is recruiting me from ULL, Rodriguez said." "He told me that I could come in and have a chance to contribute right away, but I would like to red-shirt my freshman year."
What other offers is Caesar Rodriguez holding right now?
"I have offers from Alabama State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Kent State, ULL, Florida International, Western Kentucky and Delaware."
Where is Louisiana projecting Rodriguez to play at the next level?
"Like most of the schools offering they want me at DE, said Caesar." "I like playing DE, but I don't have a problem playing linebacker as well."
Caesar was scheduled to attend the Florida Atlantic game, but couldn't attend. Rodriguez hasn't had much time to set visits as Christopher Columbus has made the playoffs.
"I was supposed to attend the game, but I couldn't get there, said Caesar." "I'm going to try and make it to ULL for the next home game, but it's going to be tough with the playoffs."
While Caser Rodriguez's stats are not up-to-date, he had 6 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 TD and 25 tackles half way through the season.
Rodriguez currently maintains a 2.9 GPA and a 840 SAT score. Caser is scheduled to take the ACT for the first time in December.
