Arizona Western defensive tackle Zach Masch received his first scholarship offer this fall from Louisiana . The 6-3, 290-pound sophomore defensive tackle has just completed his final season at AWC and is on tract to graduate in December. Masch spoke to the Cajun Redzone today about his first D-1 scholarship offer this fall.
"Coach Fouquier called me and told me he liked that I was making plays on the line and hustling on the field, said Zach." "He said that he would give the film to the head coach to look at and call back later. He later called and offered me on the phone."
What did coach tell you when he called back to make the offer?
"He told me they liked that I didn't not give up on plays and the fact that I'm a team captain, said Masch." "Coach stated that they want me to come in and be a leader on the defense."
Masch finished the 2008 season with 46 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one fumble recovery and one safety. What position did Masch play in Matadors defensive scheme?
"I played the 3 tech at tackle, said Zach." "I'm comfortable in the position and that is the position they are recruiting me to play."
Why did Masch sign with a junior college out of high school?
"My GPA wasn't good enough coming out of high school, Masch said." "I presently have a 3.0 GPA and I'm on tract to graduate in December."
When will Masch take a visit to Louisiana in Lafayette?
"I won't be able to make it to the next home game; it will be during the week of finals, said Zach." "So it will have to be after my exams are done. The position coach, Broussard will be coming down to visit me soon and I will try setting the date then.
A recent article mentioned that Zach Masch had another offer, what other program has offered him?
"Yea I've read that article, said Masch." "Houston has offered me a visit, but they have not offered me a scholarship. Washington State, Colorado, Utah and UCLA have also been in contact, but no offers have been made.
