Cajuns Offer Three Star Safety Johns

Louisiana's Football staff is on the road visiting potential recruits in home and setting up visits for January. The Cajuns offered a three star athlete last night and scheduled his visit for next month.

The Ragin'Cajun's football staff has turned their attention to three star safety prospect Josh Johns from Central High in Baton Rouge. The 6-2, 200-pound prospect that runs a 4.55 forty spoke about his in home visit from several members of the Cajun coaching staff.

"Coach Fouquier came in early and started talking to me and my dad, Johns said." "Coaches Wingerter and Brown came in a little later and spoke to my parents as well. I had three coaches from the same program in a home visit, it was pretty cool."

John visited earlier in the season for the Arkansas State game on an unofficial visit, but the Cajuns had not been in contact with him very much since then, so what has happened recently to change that?

"Coach Fouquier told that he watched my game film and he really liked me at the free safety position, Josh said." "He feels I can come in and contribute right away on special teams, and work my way into the rotation. I know that I would have to come in and compete; no one is going to give me anything."

Josh Johns has offers from ULM, Louisiana Tech and several other state schools. Johns father played collegiately at ULM before an injury ended his career and transferring to LSU to complete his degree. Will his fathers connection with ULM play any role in his final decision?

"No, my father will give me some guidance, but ultimately the final decision is mine to make, said Johns." "His former college won't have any weight on where on going to play college football."

Josh Johns is fully qualified with a 20 ACT score and a 3.0 GPA in his core.

What has Coach Dooley at Tech and Coach Weatherbie told him about his opportunities to play early?

"Tech returns several starters, so Coach Dooley told me I might red-shirt, Josh said." "Coach Weatherbie told me I would have the opportunity to compete for playing time as a true freshman."

"Will having the chance to play have some effect on your final decision?

"Absolutely, having the opportunity to come in and compete early is something I would like to do, Johns said." "I realize that I will have to come in and work hard like everyone else in the program. Of course I understand that no one is going to give me a starting position, I will have to earn it."

Did Josh Johns set up a official visit last night with the Cajuns?

"I believe my official visit date will be on January 17th, Josh stated." "I'm looking forward to the visit with my parents."
