Nash and Burnette Give Cajuns Verbals

The Cajuns pick up two more commitments on the defensive side of the ball Friday night. Both athletes come from the Baton Rouge area and are participating in the U.S Army Red-Stick All-Star game.

The 5-11, 220-pound Nash is a two time 6-3A All District athlete and All-State nominee at linebacker. Nash finished the season with over 118 tackles, 6 sacks and 11 quarterback hurries. Brandon runs a 4.7 forty and can chase down athletes from sideline to sideline.

Brandon Nash benches 320-pounds, squats 420 and power cleans 330. Nash has scored a 20 on his ACT and maintains a 3.1 GPA in the classroom.

Brandon had offers from UL and Arkansas State, while he was also being recruited by Rice, Arkansas and Northern Illinois.


Winston Burnette is an 6-2,190-pound athlete that will start off at cornerback for the Cajuns.

Burnette was named Second Team 5-5A All-District team, finishing the year with 85 tackles,15 unassited, 4 pass def., 1 sack and 1 fumb. rec. injust eight games.

Winston runs a 4.5 forty, with a 38" vertical jump, benched 290 and squats 320.

Burnette has scored an 18 on the ACT and 2.6 GPA in the class room.

Winston was being recruited by SMU,UL and Louisiana Tech.

Both athletes are unavailable for comment due to participation in the Red-Stick All Star game.
