Texas Lineman Sets Official Visit

The Ragin'Cajun football staff will be hosting a large group of prospects on January 17th. The list has grown larger over the past few days, as an offensive lineman from Texas has set his official visit date.

Most casual observers of college football recruiting might not care about an athlete that is the Scout.Com's No. 93 ranked offensive guard in the country, but to Beaumont Ozen's Daniel Lemelle it has meant hard work. Lemelle has had interest from Houston, Georgia Tech, Louisiana , Texas State and Lamar during the year, but has decided to go with the first two programs to offer him.

"I had been talking with Houston, Georgia Tech, UL and Lamar during the season, said Lemelle." "But Lamar and UL are the only two offers I have right now; Texas State has called me to go in on an official visit, but I'm going with my first two offers. I haven't heard anything lately from Houston or Georgia Tech."

With his two present offers, Lemelle will have to make a decision soon.

"Yes, they are both pushing for decision right now, Daniel said." "I've already made an official visit to Lamar and make an official visit to UL on January 17th. I will make my decision after the visit to UL this month."

What have the coaches from both programs told Daniel Lemelle?

"Well, coach Broussard has told me that UL is offering me at the center position, Lemelle said." "They want me to come in and get ready to play next season after the guy starting graduates. It's a great opportunity to come in and play at a bowl division program. Lamar begins playing football in 2010 and that would be an opportunity to be part of a program from the very beginning."

Daniel Lemelle maintains a 2.9 GPA, but has retaken the ACT after scoring a 15 on his first test.

"I scored a 15 on my first test, Lemelle said." "But I'm waiting on the score of my most recent test.

What major is Daniel Lemelle interested in right now?

"I'm interested in engineering, Daniel said." "I had the opportunity to speak to the head of the engineering department at UL and he really got me excited about their program."
