With 2.4 seconds remaining Louisiana inbounded the ball to Randell Daigle who took two steps across the halfcourt line and sank a game-winning three-pointer as the horn sounded to give the Ragin' Cajuns a 67-65 victory over South Alabama.
Daigle's shot came right after Domonic Tilford had a three-point make roll into the rim to give USA what appeared to be the game-winning points and a 65-64 lead.
Travis Bureau led the Ragin' Cajuns (7-12, 4-4 Sun Belt Conference) with 18 points. Chris Gradnigo scored 13 and Daigle chipped in with eight.
With 20 seconds left, Bureau made one of two attempts to give Louisiana a 64-62 lead. Following a team timeout, Domonic Tilford sank a 3-pointer with two seconds left to put South Alabama up by one. But Daigle responded with a 3-pointer to win the game.
The Jaguars (11-9, 4-5) were paced by DeAndre Coleman, who scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Tilford added 15 points.
The game was South Alabama's second consecutive close loss, as they were beat on Jan. 22 by Arkansas-Little Rock 61-59 following a layup with 15 seconds left.
