St. Michael Athlete Has Interest From Cajuns

The Cajuns have invited some of the top high school football prospects in Louisiana for Junior Day on April 4th. Another St. Michael's product is among the number that has received an invitation.

The recruiting interest in St. Michael's tight end prospect Nick Scelfo has started to heat up recently. Scelfo attended LSU's Junior Day last month and will be attending one of Texas A&M's spring practices on March 29th. Scelfo also has interest in attending UL's Junior Day on April 4th and stated he has received letters from a number of schools.

"Recruiting has been going pretty good," Scelfo stated. "I do not have an offer yet, but I have been getting letters from LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas State, UL, and Louisiana Tech."

"I visited UL last fall with my teammate Jeremy Meyers," said Nick. "The coaches were nice and I enjoyed the game we attended. I heard the coaches wanted to see more of my game film and may be coming to our spring practices to watch me."

Former St. Michael athlete and current Cajun lineman Evan Ruiz has spoken to Scelfo and several of his teammates about the Ragin' Cajun program.

"He has come by school several times and spoke to us about the UL program, "Scelfo stated. "He said UL is a great place to play college football and he really is enjoying his time in college."

The 6-4, 225-pound Scelfo enjoys playing the tight end position and described his style of play.

"I think I'm like a go-to tight end because I have a big body and I'm a big target for my quarterback and I also have the speed (4.7) to make plays once the ball is in my hands," Scelfo stated. "I can split out wide can cause matchup problems for the opponents defense."

Nick is a good student and is awaiting the score of his first ACT test. Scelfo has narrowed his choices of a major down to two right now.

"I'm interested in Business and Engineering right now, "Scelfo expressed. "I going to take a hard look at the Business Schools and Engineering programs when I visit schools."
