ULM chased Cajun starter Alex Fuselier in the third inning and scored four more runs off Blake Haagen, who was the first Cajun arm out of the bullpen. Haagen(2-1) took the loss for UL and was one of four pitchers used on the night.
The Warhawks broke open a 5-5 game with a run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Matt Laird gave ULM a 6-5 lead with his second sacrifice fly of the night in the fourth inning.
Blake Hageen walked Nick Wade and Jordy Poche before Perry Smith hit a double to deep right center field to open the scroing. Boomer Blanchard followed with a single to left field forcing the Cajuns to bring Zach Osborne into the game. Osborne hit Jon Provost to load the bases and Ben Soignier increased the Warhawk lead to 9-5 with a single and RBI.
The Warhawks would tack on five more runs in the eight inning, sending 10 batters to the plate.
Travis Whipple led the Cajuns bats going 4-for-4 at the plate, while Greg Fontenot added a 3-fo-4 performance at the plate.
Travis Whipple, Chad Keefer and Scott Hawkins all had RBIs in the third inning to give the Cajuns a 5-4 early lead before the Warhawks bats came alive.
