Brittany Cuevas earned the start and took the win for UL. The junior worked 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Cuevas tied a career-high with 12 strikeouts in a game. She retired the first nine batters of the game in order, strikeout out eight Tigers.
Cuevas gave way to Amanda Hill in the sixth inning. The senior worked 1.1 scoreless innings. Hill faced the minimum, inducing three ground outs and striking out a batter.
Shari Sigur entered the game to record the final two outs of the game. Sigur allowed one hit and got Grambling to ground out twice to secure the shutout for the Cajuns.
Offensively, the Ragin' Cajuns collected 11 hits in the game, led by Codi Runyan and Christi Orgeron who boasted three hits apiece. Orgeron finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a run scored and two RBI, while Runyan was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
Melissa Verde added a two-run home run to lead the Cajuns with two RBI.
The Ragin' Cajuns will return to action on Saturday as they begin a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against North Texas.
