Cajuns Get First Verbal

Sources close to the Cajun Basketball program have stated that All-State St. Thomas Aquinas point guard Raymone Andrews has committed to sign with the Cajuns.

Raymone Andrews is a two sport athlete, All-State Athlete at St. Thomas Aquinas High. Andrews quarterbacked the Falcons to the LHSAA 2A State Playoffs and was named All-District MVP as well as All-State Athlete on special teams. The Cajun RedZone covered Raymone in the North Shore vs. South Shore all star game in New Orleans in December; Raymone stated in December that he was more interested in playing college basketball at the time, but would make a final decision in the spring.

As a senior, Andrews averaged 15.5 points per game as St. Thomas Aquinas advanced to the Class 2A state semifinals at the Top 28 Tournament in the Cajun Dome. The 6-3 Andrews helped the STA Falcons win back-to-back 2A state titles in 2007 and 2008.

Coach Eldon Pipes, one of the top AAU Coaches in Louisiana described Raymone Andrews as, "probably one of the smartest point guards in the 2009 class. He has great natural instincts and he knows how to play the game. Raymone is very athletic and has great point guard instincts, but needs to become a better ball handler and improve his parameter shooting."

Andrews is expected to sign a letter of intent in the next few days to make his signing official, was unavailable for comment today. Raymone had offers from UL and Southeastern, and also received interest from Tulane and Northwestern St.
