Travis Turning Heads

Plaquemine High wide receiver Reggie Travis was one of several athletes at the skilled positions that garnered extra attention from the Cajun football staff during recent camp.Travis left camp with a favorable impression of Louisiana's football program and staff.

Reggie Travis, 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver from Plaquemine High is still excited about his trip to Lafayette to participate in the Cajun Prospect camp on June 7th.

"I was really excited about coming in for the prospect camp," Travis stated. "It was one of the programs that interested me and I wanted to come in to have a good camp. I had not seen the campus or the facilities, so this was a great opportunity to perform well for the staff."

Reggie Travis was able to rack up 30 receptions for over 400 yards in 2008, in the high powered Green Devils offense engineered by Tulane signee Ryan Travis.

"Ryan played quarterback in our system and we had a pretty explosive offense last season," Reggie said. "We had good group of receivers and a solid line to play behind with Ryan directing the offense."

Reggie expressed his excitement about attending the Ragin'Cajun prospect camp.

"I liked what we were able to see of the facilities during the camp," Travis stated. "UL was one of my favorite schools coming into the camp and could certainly see myself playing football in their program."

Travis has interest from Southeastern Louisiana and Tulane, and plans to attend both programs football camps.

"I'm attending Tulane's camp Thursday at Memorial Stadium," said Reggie. "After the Tulane camp, I will be heading out to the Southeastern camp and then an LSU camp next month."

Reggie was happy with his performance at the camp, but he was a little disappointed with his 4.6 forty time.

"Yea, I ran a 4.48 and 4.52 during the spring, so I wasn't happy with that time," Travis stated. "Coach Mason didn't really say anything about my forty, but I'm going to work on my speed during the summer."

Reggie Travis plans on staying in contact with Coach Mason.

"I have coach Mason's number, so I plan to stay in touch with him through the summer and fall," Reggie said. "UL is at the top of my list right now and I want to stay in contact with them through football season."
