Seth Ancar Focused On Season

South Plaquemines linebacker Seth Ancar has turned his focus on preparing his injured hamstring for the upcoming 2009 football season. Ancar spoke to the Cajun RedZone about his summer camp tour and recruitment.

Seth Ancar is coming off a junior year in which he recorded 80 tackles, 20 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 5 recovered fumbles, 2 interceptions and one touchdown. Ancar accomplished this in only nine games during his junior year, which South Plaquemines won the 1A State Championship. The 6-0, 205 pound Ancar has had his share of interest since that state championship game last fall.

"I've receive interest from a lot of schools," Seth said. "Ole Miss, SMU, Louisiana Tech, UCONN, Alabama, Louisiana, Northern Illinois, LSU, ULM, Tulane and Grambling have all showed interest in me since the fall. But I'm holding only three offers right now."

Ancar is currently holding offers from Louisiana Tech, Northern Illinois and Grambling, but is a little concerned that others have not offered as of yet.

"While I'm happy to have those three offers, I don't understand why others have not offered yet," stated Ancar. "At every combine I attended, I was named one of the top performers. I've received some letters from several schools expressing their interest, but I have not received any calls from them."

The two program Seth was referring to are Louisiana and ULM, what is his interest in both programs?

"I would love to be recruited and offered by both programs," Seth said. "If I could have scheduled to attend camps at both schools, I would have attended. The letters they sent expressed their interest in recruiting me, so I'm looking forward to talking to them and visiting their programs."

Seth had one more camp schedule, but injured his hamstring working out and couldn't attend.

"Alabama coaches had come out and watched our spring game against Shaw," Ancar stated. "I had eight tackles in the game and the coach stated that I proved I could play in the SEC in that game. So I scheduled a visit to one of their camps, but once I hurt my hamstring it wasn't going to happen."

Seth Ancar scored a 16 on his first ACT test and completed the 2008 school year with a 2.5 GPA.
