Richardson Heading To 7-on-7 Camp

Warren Easton High is scheduled to participate in the 2009 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 7-on-7 passing camp this weekend. Jaleel Richardson will be one of three featured Division One prospects for the Eagles on the offensive side of the ball.

Jaleel Richardson is hoping to show the Ragin' Cajun coaching staff his skills at both wide receiver and defensive back this weekend. The 5-11, 170-pound Richardson is one of several Division One prospects the Warren Easton Eagles feature on offense, including WR Jaron Miller and QB/Ath Maurice Rothschild. Richardson is looking forward to visiting the 7-on-7 camp and touring the Cajun athletic facilities.

"I haven't been up there to Lafayette, so this is my first look at the program," Jaleel said. "Their coaches came out to our spring game, but I didn't have the opportunity to talk to them after the game. They have spoken to my coach lately and expressed their interest in me, so this will be a good chance to look at the facilities and talk with the coaches."

The Cajuns aren't the only program to express interest in Richardson, as he has attended camps at Southern Mississippi, Tulane, LSU and the Scout.com/Fox Sports New Orleans Combine.

"I mostly worked at wide receiver at the camps," stated Richardson. "But Tulane and LSU wanted me to get some repetitions in at defensive back as well. They thing I have enough speed to play in the secondary at the next level and wanted to see if I can compete back there against quality athletes."

Jaleel Richardson has plenty of speed, but was not a featured athlete in the Eagles offense during the 2008 football season.

"Yea, I ran a 4.5 forty with a slight hamstring problem last week at the LSU camp," Jaleel said. "We really didn't feature the passing game as much last season and I was still learning how to play the wide receiver position, so my stats were not that good."

Jaleel Richardson is close to qualifying with an 18 on the ACT and a 2.8 GPA in his core subjects.
