More Offers for Ashburn

John Curtis High DE prospect Walker Ashburn has had a busy summer attending camps and collecting offers. Which programs are the latest to offer Ashburn?

Walker Ashburn is a 6-3, 245-pound three star defensive end from John Curtis High School in River Ridge, La. As a junior, Ashburn finished the season with 91 tackles and 14 sacks. For his efforts, Walker Ashburn earned First-Team Class 2A All State honors on the Patriots State championship team. Ashburn, who holds scholarship offers from Toledo, Stanford, Southern Miss, Nebraska, ULM and McNeese State, has recently added two more to the list. "Oklahoma State and Louisiana are my most recent offers," Walker stated. "The Oklahoma State offer came earlier this week and ULL's offer came after my most recent camp. Right now I'm open to all the programs that have offered at this point."

Ashburn hasn't visited either program, but has been through the Louisiana campus while visiting Lafayette with his father.

"It was a few years back before they built the indoor practice facility," said Ashburn. "My dad was on business for the Saints and we went by, and spoke to the coaches about the program and their plans for the future. I understand they have completed some of those projects, improving the facilities."

Walker's main contact with the Louisiana Ragin'Cajuns program has been with recruiting coordinator Troy Wingerter.

"I've spoken to Coach Wingerter several times," Walker stated. "He seems to be a really nice guy and told me I have a standing offer anytime I'm ready to commit. I'm looking forward to them to them offering me on paper; I'm open right now."

Ashburn plans to major in business and reports a 3.6 core GPA and a 19 ACT.
