Over the past year, Rico Albert has played in the shadow of teammate Todd Washington, a recent Tulsa commitment. But the 6'0, 170-pound Albert has received his share of interest lately, visiting Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns this past weekend to take in the "Battle of Basin" against Southern University. Rico spoke about his visit and the game with the Cajun Redzone tonight.
On the atmosphere of the game…
Rico- "That was a great atmosphere Saturday night; I had never been to a game at UL and the fans from both schools were crazy. It was definitely a great college atmosphere to watch a game."
First look at the facilities….
Rico- "We had a chance to check out the indoor practice field, the weight room and the looker room. The facilities looked good and the field turf was cool with the logos."
Meeting Coach Bustle…
Rico- "Coach Bustle spoke to us after the game and thanked us for coming in to take a look at the program. That was the first time my father and I have spoken to him; he seemed like a nice guy."
What are his strengths as defensive back…
Rico- "My strength is the versatility to play both at cornerback and safety. Depending on the defense and matchups on the field, I can play both equally well."
What programs are interested or have offered…
Rico- "I offers from state schools, but Utah State was my first bowl division offer. The schools showing interest right now, besides state schools are ULL, Arkansas, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State and Nebraska."
His current academic status…..
Rico- "I've made a 21 on my ACT and carry a 3.4 GPA right now. I'm interested in engineering as a major, but haven't made a final decision yet."
On possible official visits…
Rico- "I haven't really thought about that, but Nebraska will be one. ULL is definitely a school I would consider, but I will sit down with my dad and make that decision next month."
