Rice Takes In Cajun Game

Mandeville's Kris Rice has become a hot commodity on the recruiting trail over the past month. Rice joined teammate Zach Ferger in Lafayette to attend the Ragin'Cajun game this past weekend.

Things are starting to heat up on the recruiting front for Mandeville linebacker Kris Rice. The 5'11, 218-pound senior traveled down to Louisiana this past weekend on an unofficial visit for the Southern game. The Cajun RedZone caught up with Chris Rice Thursday night and spoke to him about his visit and the latest on recruiting.

On the atmosphere at the game…
Rice- "The atmosphere was unbelievable, it was like a mini version of an LSU game. I didn't think any other schools in the state could pack them in like that, it was great!"

Louisiana's facilities and program….
Rice- "UL has really nice facilities and, they are an up and coming program. While they're not a BCS program, it's a program that I would enjoy playing at in state. We had the opportunity to talk to some of the players after the game, and that talked about the program."

Speaking with Coach Bustle…
Rice- "Coach Bustle told me that they like me a lot and I have they size they like at the position. He told Zach and me that most of the linebackers they are recruiting would take some time in the weight room before they are ready to play."

Offers in hand right now…

Rice- "I'm holding offers from Colorado, TCU, Southern Miss. and UCLA right now. Other programs have been calling coach about me, but those are my offers besides state schools."

Are the Cajuns close to offering….
Rice- "Coach Wingerter told me they like me and they would like to watch me during the season. He said that he would come out and watch us play soon and they want some more game film for this season."

Academic status of Rice….
Rice- "I scored a 21 on the ACT, but haven't taken Algebra II yet in high school. I scored higher on most subjects on the test, but my math score can be improved. I have a 2.4 GPA right now, but I'm working on my core courses right now."

On playing at Louisiana
Rice- "If I decide to stay in state and play, UL is definitely a program I would consider hard. They have great facilities and the game atmosphere is great."
