Redemptorist Athlete Rates Cajuns High

The Cajuns hosted a large number of Louisiana's college football prospects for the Southern game; one of the Baton Rouge areas top athletes has the Cajuns high on his list.

Redemptorist high athlete Deuce Coon is coming of a great performance this pat weekend, helping the Wolves defeat St. James 35-14. The 6-0, 180-pound Coon rushed for 43 yards and two TDs. The senior quarterback completed 5-of-8 passes for 107 yards and another touchdown. Deuce was more then happy to talk about his visit at UL during the Southern game with the Cajun Redzone.

On the game and atmosphere…
Deuce- "The game was great and that was an unbelievable atmosphere. Southern brought a lot of people, but the Cajun fans were loud."

Visiting the locker room after the game…
Deuce- "I really like the players and the coaching staff at UL. The locker room was crazy and you can tell the players are a close group. They have great chemistry between the athletes and the coaches."

On visiting with Coach Mason….
Deuce- "I had the chance to sit down with him and watch some video of their offense. Coach Mason told me that they are looking for athletes that can make plays for them in the open field. I just looked at him and told him that I'm that kind of athlete."

Other colleges showing interest…
Deuce- "Besides the Cajuns, I have interest from ULM, Southern Miss, Miami of Ohio and Northwestern Louisiana. At this point, Miami of Ohio and Northwestern Louisiana are my only offers. ULM and Southern Miss call me almost every week to stay in touch."

On setting official visits…
Deuce- "I haven't given it much thought yet, but I know UL will be one of them. I like their program a lot and enjoy being around the players in the program. It's definitely a program that is building something positive."
