Shelby Zeigler is not a well known name within the circles of college football recruiters, but the 6'5, 240-pound senior at Block High is starting to draw some interest. Zeigler was one of a dozen recruits to attend Louisiana's game against Kansas State this past weekend. Shelby spoke to the Cajun RedZone about his visit and his interest in the Louisiana football program.
On his interest in the Cajun program….
Zeigler- "Saturday wasn't the first time I have seen the Cajuns play in person. I attended the ULM game in Monroe last year when they crushed them in Monroe. I was like wow, who is that running back for the Cajuns? I just enjoyed watching their offense play and score on big plays."
Attending the game against Kansas State….
Zeigler- "I stayed until the end of the game and watched the team celebrate after the win. We visited the locker room after the game and it was great talking to some of the players and coaches. I really enjoyed the visit and the facilities; I've never been to the campus.
Moving from private school….
Zeigler- "I attend a private school last year that didn't have football, Sicily Island. So, I wanted to get back on the football field and Block High was the closest to my home. I enjoy playing with my teammates and our coaches are great."
Playing at a Class 1A program…
Zeigler- "We don't get much attention up there at Block High, but that's why you go out an attend some football camps during the summer. I attended football camps at LSU and Louisiana Tech. It gave me the opportunity to go up against some of the top athletes in the state."
On the interest of other programs…
Zeigler- "Louisiana Tech and Northwestern Louisiana have shown interest in me, as well as the Cajuns. I haven't taken any other unofficial visits yet, but I will wait to see who calls to invite me in for a game. Right now, I really like UL and they have shown the most interest lately."
