ASH WR Has Interest from Cajuns

Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns coaching staff is looking to add a few more skilled athletes to the 2010 Signing Class. The staff may have found one in a talented WR from Alexandria Senior High.

Darryl Surgent is off to a fast start for the 2009 football season. Darryl Surgent caught six passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns and passed for another to lead Class 4A's sixth-ranked Trojans to a 34-14 victory over Class 5A Pineville High Friday night. The 6'0, 185-pound speedster now has over 297 receiving yards and 3 touch downs on the season, after just three games. Surgent has interest from the Cajuns and others, but Louisiana is recruiting him hard now.

On interest from the Cajuns…
Surgent- "ULL has shown a lot of interest lately and I went in on an unofficial visit for the Southern game earlier this month. The game was wild and I really enjoyed the visit. We had an opportunity to look at the indoor facility, the locker room and the weight room before the game. I like what ULL has to offer as a program."

Other programs interested….
Surgent- "I have offers from ULM, Northwestern St, McNeese St. and Southeastern St. right now. Louisiana Tech and LSU have also expressed interest in me over the past few months.

On recruiting coaches from each program
Surgent- "Coach Hudson is recruiting me for ULL and I like him. Coach Chavis is recruiting me from LSU and asked me to come in for a visit. Coach Leahy is recruiting me for ULM; I had attended their football camp during the summer and enjoyed it.

Where he stand's with the Cajuns...
Surgent- "Coach Hudson wants me to come back in for another game; he told me they like me a lot. They want more film on me and I plan on attending another game sometime soon."

Current academic standing…
Surgent- "I made a 17 on my first ACT test. I tested again a few weeks back and I'm awaiting those scores. Right now I have a 2.4 GPA, but I'm working on my core courses right now."
