Duhe Visits Louisiana

Destrehan High offensive lineman Ashton Duhe was offered early on this summer by Louisiana's Ragin'Cajuns. Duhe decided to visit Louisiana for the first time this past weekend and left impressed with the Cajuns program.

Ashton Duhe first visit to Louisiana left him surprised and impressed with the program's facility improvements.

"We practiced in the indoor facility in 2007 when traveled up to New Iberia to face Westgate in the playoffs. I didn't have the chance to look around much after the practice, so I had no idea what the rest of the facilities look like," stated Duhe."

Duhe not only had the opportunity to look at the indoor facility this time, but also visit with the coaches and get a good look at the rest of the facilities.

"The coaches met with us before the game and we were able to get a good look at the locker room and weight room. I didn't have a chance to look at the stadium when we practiced there in 2007, but it looked good and walking down that tunnel was really cool," Ashton said. "I was surprised by the quality of the facilities; it certainly is better then what I have heard from others."

What did the coaches tell Duhe about the opportunities in the Cajun program?

"The coaches told me they want me to be part of the Cajun program and when I'm ready to make my decision, they have an offer. I knew Coach Rebowe because he recruits the Destrehan area, but I was really impressed with Coach Hudson the offensive line coach," stated Duhe. "He really seems to know the game and told me they like my versatility on the line."

What was Duhe's overall impression of the Cajun program and facilities?

"I was really surprised by the facilities, fans and a few of the players. I had the opportunity to meet the center Chris Fisher and he really knows how to play the game," Ashton said. "I spoke with him and Brad Bustle, but I watched the lines during the game and he really impressed me on how he handles his position. I also was impressed with him against LSU, I was at that game. I know they lost the game, but UL is definitely a program I'm seriously considering."

The (6'3, 305 pounds) Duhe has now taken in games at LSU and Louisiana, what's his next destination?

"I'm going up SMU's homecoming game next weekend," Duhe stated. "I haven't been able to schedule a trip up there, so now I have a date set. After the trip up to SMU, I really haven't decided on any other unofficial visits right now."

Asthon Duhe has scored a 17 on his first ACT test and is currently maintaining a 3.0 GPA in his core subjects.
