Salmen's Faciane Talks Recruiting

Salmen High's run in the 4A state playoffs ended abruptly last Friday night against Franklinton. But the recruitment of blue chip prospect defensive end Isame Faciane is just beginning to get heated up in December.

Isame Faciane is a name that most college football recruiters in Louisiana are familiar with. The "6-4", 255-pounder is the prototype college defensive linemen prospect with 4.75 speed that college recruiters are looking to sign. Faciane is not sure what position he will play in college because he has the frame to carry 280 to 290 pounds.

"I've played mostly inside this year," Isame stated. "Some coaches think I could play inside with my frame; I really don't mind if I play inside or out on the edge."

Isame has gotten a lot of attention from three programs recently, amongst a few others.

"Three programs are really wanting me to come in on visits," said Faciane. "UL, FIU and SMU have called me the most out of the schools that are recruiting me right now. I'm heading to FIU this weekend and then I'm going to visit UL in January. I don't know if I'm going to visit SMU yet, but those are the first two that I'm going to take."

Faciane took an unofficial visit to Louisiana for the Troy game and talked about his impressions of the program.

"That was my first trip in to see a game at UL," Isame stated. "I liked the facilities and the stadium; I like the staff and it's definitely a program that appeals to me .The crowd was good, considering it was the last game of the season; I wished they would have won."

Isame Faciane is the type of athlete the Cajuns need on the defensive line, but he has some work to do to become eligible.

"I scored a 16 on my last ACT test," said Faciane. "I'm going to take it again in February and continue to work hard in the classroom on my core subjects."
