Cecilia High super athlete Montrel Carter is still receiving a lot of attention from recruiters this summer. Carter is currently hold seven offers right now and is looking to add a few more offer the 2010 football season. Carter recently visited the UL coaching staff again and decided to bring in his cousin Bryant Cormier from Texas with him. Cormier played last season at Alief Elsik HS, but has transferred to Cecilia high for the 2010 season.
"I wanted to introduce my cousin to Coach Hudson," Montrel stated. "He moved back home with his mother and I wanted the coaches to speak to him since they are one of the programs that I'm interested in right now. They spoke with him and invited Bryant to come out to the on campus camp on July 18th."
Montrel wasn't just visiting to introduce his cousin, but also speak with Coach Hudson about his current offer from UL.
"Coached showed me some video of Jason Chery when he played there," said Carter. He played the position that the Cajuns are offering at and it showed me how they used his skills in their offense. We are similar type athletes and he was really good in the ways they used him in the offense. He was really good in the offense that they ran and the return game."
Tulsa has gone out of its way recently in trying to gain Carters services; showing the video of another Louisiana athlete Damarius Johnson.
"Yea, they had some video of Johnson and compared me to him coming out of high school," Montrel stated. "He's done very well in their offense and we have very similar builds and speed. They really want me to come in and work behind him next year."
Is Montrel close to a final decision on his college future?
"No, I'm not ready to make any decision before the season," said Carter. "I'm headed to LSU in a couple weeks and then I'm going to focus on getting ready for the start of football in August. I'm still considering all my offers right now and several others that have not offered yet."
