Giles, a former four-star running back from Tampa, Fla., attended the Cardinals 56-0 victory over rival Memphis on Saturday.
One of the top running back prospects coming out of high school two years ago, Giles, 5-foot-11, 190-pounds, rushed for 277 yards last season as a true freshman. Giles, the third leading rusher for Steve Spurrier's team last season, averaged 5.3 yards per carry and rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown against FAU.
Giles originally committed to Tennessee but signed with South Carolina after Phil Fulmer was replaced by Lane Kiffen. Giles was rated the 21st-best running back nationally by Scout.com and was ranked the No. 29 player in Florida by Super Prep.
Giles, an elusive back with good speed, left a crowded situation at USC. Freshman Marcus Lattimore has established himself as the Gamecocks top running back and two other backs were ahead of Giles on the depth chart.
Giles was hosted by Southern California transfer Jordan Campbell. Campbell is not eligible to play this season for the Cardinals but was on the sideline in a Louisville uniform for the Memphis game.
