Nunez was also blown away with Louisville's new arena, which he toured during his visit.
"Wow," Nunez said. "The new arena was crazy. I don't have any words to describe it..it was just amazing. It was empty but there were so many seats that I could envision it. It looked so perfect, like the Staples Center. It looked better than pro arenas."
Nunez was especially impressed with Pitino's practice sessions. He also enjoyed hanging out with the Cardinals current players.
"I really liked it," Nunez said. "They really get after it in practice and it's non-stop running. I love running and playing fast. Terrence Jennings and Kyle Kuric looked good, and so did Peyton Siva. I really liked how he was playing. I like all of the guys, they were all cool. Everybody was down to earth."
Nunez will spend this season at Notre Dame prep in Massachusetts working on his game and minding his academics. Pitino told the versatile 6-foot-7 forward to focus on playing hard all the time and developing a work ethic to bring to UofL next season.
"He just wants me to keep working hard and play hard at all times because that's what Francisco did and that's where I want to get," Nunez said. "I'm pretty versatile and quick that I could play all the way up to the four if I had to, but I'll be primarily a point-forward type. He said my passing ability and shooting ability will help me fit into the system. He said he's going to sharpen all my skills once I get here [UofL]."
