Ngarndi recruiting update

6'7 Guy Ngarndi of Louisville Western High School will trip to Appalachian State this weekend for an official visit, according to Ngarndi's family host provider Rev. Andre Barnes.

Barnes told Inside theVille that Appalachian State Head Coach Houston Fancher has offered the athletic forward a scholarship.

Barnes also had good news regarding Guy's academic situation.

According to Barnes, questions regarding Ngarndi's transcripts had been answered and at this point it appears Guy will be eligible to play next season as a freshman under the NCAA's sliding scale guidelines.  Ngarndi sports a 3.7 GPA.

As the spring recruiting period begins in full, Barnes indicated that Ngarndi is tiring of the recruiting race.

"He'll be glad when the process is over with," said Barnes.

Barnes said that a new school has started to call and inquire about Ngarndi, the University of Utah.  According to Barnes, Rick Majerus' top assistant called last night to talk about Guy's situation.

Barnes said Ngarndi has narrowed his list to seven schools, Louisville, Utah, Indiana, Kentucky, Arizona State, Western Kentucky, Appalachian State, and Ohio State.

Barnes said that University of Louisville Assistant Mick Cronin called the day after Coach Pitino visited for the Western - North Hardin game to explain that Pitino had to leave at halftime to visit with injured forward Ellis Myles in the hospital.

Interestingly, Barnes indicated to ITV that Ngarndi would strongly consider an offer from the University of Louisville to walk on next season if the conditions and circumstances were right.

ITV will continue to monitor Ngarndi's recruitment throughout the spring.
