Palacios has offer from Pitino

6'8 Tello Palacios is one of the top players in the class of 2004. He's also one of Coach Pitino's top recruiting targets. Our Savior New American Head Coach Ron Stelzer spoke with ITV last week and updated Tello's offseason plans, recruitment and academic progress.

Palacios recruiting update

6'8, 250 Tello Palacios of Our Savior New American had quite a junior season.  He was named the MVP at both the Bull City Classic and the Flyin' to the Hoop Event in Dayton.  He's without question one of the nation's best forwards and is being highly sought by a number of college basketball heavies.

Palacios, a native of Colombia, is still learning the American system and his excellent play has opened many doors to him.  Faced with those choices, Palacios is undecided about a good many things these days.

Inside theVille.com spoke with OSNA Head Coach Ron Stelzer last week for an update on Palacios plans for this summer, his recruitment and academic progress.

According to Stelzer, Palacios has not decided which team he will play with this spring and summer on the AAU circuit and is uncertain which shoe camp he'll attend this July.

Stelzer indicated that Palacios has narrowed his AAU choices down to two programs; adidas based New York Elite or Ahead of the Game.

Stelzer indicated that Palacios has heard from a number of schools but listed Louisville, Valpariso, Florida State, N.C. State, Florida, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Villanova.

According to Stelzer, Palacios has an offer from the Cards and Head Coach Rick Pitino.

"It's there if he wants it," Stelzer said of UofL's offer.

Stelzer said Pitino and Assistant Coach Vince Taylor had both been to Centerreach twice last season to evaluate Palacios in open gym and at OSNA practice sessions.

Pitino also saw Palacios in Deleware at the Slam Dunk to the Beach and at the Flyin' to the Hoop tournament in Dayton.

Stelzer indicated Palacios is looking for a comfortable fit with both the coach and players and wants to play for a coach that can help him get to the next level.

According to Stelzer, Palacios won't make his decision until the fall, at the earliest.

Stelzer said Palacios is doing well in school and will take the ACT or SAT in April.
