More from Day Four to come!

Simulated Scrimmage
In a move to further prepare the team for their first scrimmage of the season, which is scheduled for this saturday, the team went through a simulated scrimmage this afternoon. Both the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator began inputing new schemes, helping the players to get a game type situation to learn in.

Hit of the Day
Easily the hit of the day came near the end of practice when running back Lionel Gates took the handoff and headed into an opening along the offensive line. Defensive end Bobby Leffew read the play perfectly and met Gates square on, lifting Gates off his feet and sending him backwards.

Quarterback Battle
ITV has learned that junior Stefan LeFors currently has a slight edge in the spring quarterback battle. Apparently LeFors experience and his ability to learn the new offense quickly is helping him to take a slight lead in the race that will only intensify once summer practice begins in August.

Offensive Line
The first team offensive line appears to be taking shape. Here's a look at the likely starters:
LT: Travis Leffew
LG: Jason Spitz
C: Dan Koons
RG: Jerry Spencer
RT: Jason Hilliard or P.J. Tavarczky

TE Chad Jorgensen
As we reported earlier, Jorgensen has obviously added some lower body strength. While he could benefit from some addition upper body weight, he will definately see game action this fall. I have yet to witness him drop a pass and this afternoon he pulled in a few receptions while being tightly covered. He has the pure talent that has become common from Louisville tight ends.

Miller & Bush
Incoming quarterbacks Eddie Miller and Michael Bush continued to observe practice up close, often listening in on the offensive play calls.
