Johnson nearing a decision

Kaleb Johnson enjoyed his visit to Louisville, and looks forward to an in-home visit from Charlie Strong Thursday. Though the three-star offensive lineman visits Miami this weekend, his high school coach says Johnson has a good idea where he's going to college and could announce his decision this weekend.

Kaleb Johnson enjoyed his official visit to Louisville last weekend, and now will make a final trip to Miami this weekend before announcing his college decision.

Before visiting Louisville, the three-star offensive lineman from Jacksonville, Fla., visited Rutgers, North Carolina and Iowa State.

"He had a great visit to Louisville and getting to know Coach Strong," said Terry Gilliam, Johson's coach at Edward White H.S. "I think they stand in high regard. He's seriously considering Louisville. He liked the one on one attention he got from their head coach, he liked the facilities, and he liked what they presented to him from a school perspective. He just had a good experience."

Gilliam said Charlie Strong will make an in-home visit with Johnson and his mom Thursday night.

"He's looking forward to Coach Strong meeting his mom this week and he's excited about the opportunity," Gilliam said.

Though Johnson will visit Miami this weekend, Gilliam said his star player has a good idea where he's going to college and he expects Johnson to announce his decision after finishing his visit with the Hurricanes.

"I think by Sunday he'll know and announce," Gilliam said. "I think he kind of knows, but he hasn't said yet. He just wants to see Miami and then he'll announce. He doesn't want to be the kind of guy that commits to this place and that place. Once he says [where he's going] it's done."

Where does Louisville stand on Johnson's list?

"He likes them a lot, but he said the same after the Rutgers visit and the North Carolina visit," Gilliam said. "I told him to take the visits, then come home and sit down with his mom and decide where he wants to play football."

As for Miami, Gilliam said the Hurricanes haven't been recruiting Johnson for long and just sent an offer earlier this week.

"Miami hasn't been recruiting him that hard," Gilliam said. "They came in late and because of their reputation he wants to go take a look. I got a fax [offer] from them yesterday."
