Q & A: DT Brian Devine

Senior Brian Devine talked to ITV following Thursday's practice about his recent switch to the defensive line, as well as the progress of the team.

Senior Brian Devine practiced with the offensive line on Monday, but on Thursday he had switched over to the defensive unit. On Thursday he spent quite a bit of time working with the second unit. I caught up with Brian following the controlled scrimmage inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

ITV: You've made a change since the last practice.

Devine: Yeah, I sure did. We made the decision a couple days ago. It's an adjustment, but because of my abilities I think I can do it.

ITV: What was it that the staff saw that made them feel you'd be better along the defensive side of the ball?

Devine: My athletic ability. I've got some speed and I do have some core ability. I thought it might help me get out on the field more and be more of a help to the team.

ITV: This was your first time running with them, how did it go?

Devine: For the first day pretty good. Not to bad really. I was able to make a few plays out there.

ITV: Are you looking forward to contributing on defense after spending time on offense?

Devine: Really, I want to do anything I can to help the team. My ultimate goal is to start, but I'll do as much as I can whenever I'm on the field.

ITV: How does this spring practice compare to previous years?

Devine: Well we've got new coaches and new attitudes. Everything is coming together quick. We've got a great tempo and everyone seems to be picking things up quicker now.
