Those two were expected make an unofficial visit to check out Rick Pitino's program this weekend, a fact confirmed by the 6-6 Shepard Thursday night, but Scout.com has learned that the two Nevada stars won't be heading to Louisville's campus after all.
Still, the Cardinals will have a few impressive recruits on campus when they host fourth-ranked Pittsburgh Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center.
Both of Louisville's 2012 commitments – Raleigh (NC) Upper Room Christian star Rodney Purvis and Huntington (WV) Prep guard Negus Webster-Chan – are expected to be on campus, as is five-star 2012 shooting guard Gary Harris, and 2013 standout Zak Irvin, a teammate of Harris' at Fishers (IN) Hamilton Southeastern.
For Harris, one of Top 25 prospects nationally, the visit to Louisville this weekend will be his third this season. Harris is without question one of Rick Pitino's top remaining 2012 recruiting targets, and it also seems certain that the talented junior has strong interest in the Cards. Harris, who has a slew of big-time offers, is also considering Michigan State, Indiana, Xavier, Purdue, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Illinois.
Irvin, a 6-5 guard, is rated the No. 25 sophomore nationally. He already has offers from Indiana, Purdue, Baylor, Illinois, Miami and Xavier. Irvin is a long, fluid wing prospect who can make shots from the perimeter.
