Point guard commits to Cards, will walk on

The Cards picked up a commitment from Brad Gianiny last Thursday. ITV has the exclusive scoop and talked with Fork Union Head Coach Fletcher Arritt about his players committment.

Gianiny to walk on

Brad Gianiny, a 6'0, 155 point guard for Fork Union Military Academy, committed to the University of Louisville last Thursday and will join the program as a walk on next season, according to Fork Union Head Coach Fletcher Arritt.

Gianiny, from Fulton County, GA, was named Honorable Mention All-North Fulton as a senior at Chattahoochee High School in 2002.  Gianiny was the starting point guard this season for Fork Union and helped lead them to a 26-2 record and a top 10 national prep school ranking.

"Brian is a quick kid...sort of explosive," said Arritt. "He has quick hands and feet and can really shoot it."

Arritt said that Coach Pitino noticed Gianiny while evaluating Donte Minter and asked to talk with Gianiny about walking on next season for the Cards.

Gianiny averaged about 10 points this season but according to Arritt his scoring figures are a bit misleading because his team played two point guards.

Gianiny and his parents visited Louisville and saw a late season home game while in town and evidently were sold that UofL was the place for Brian.

Gianiny was also recruited by Towson St., Butler and several Colonial Athletic League schools.
