Junior Prospect: LB Maurice Mitchell

Maurice Mitchell is a standout linebacker at Glasgow (KY) High School.

While Maurcie Mitchell plays on both sides of the ball for Glasgow High School as a tight end and linebacker, he told me on Saturday afternoon which side he hopes to play in college.

"I want to play linebacker," said Mitchell. "I like to get out and hit people."

At 6'3, 220-pounds, Mitchell all ready has the size to play linebacker. As a junior he recorded over 90 tackles, including 6 sacks. He also pulled in one interception.

Mitchell informed ITV that he has all ready made the near 2-hour drive from Glasgow to Louisville twice this spring.

"I've been to Louisville twice," explained Mitchell. "I was up there a couple Saturday's ago for a scrimmage and then I went to the spring game [Friday] night."

He also told ITV that he was quite impressed with both visits.

"I thought it was pretty good there," Mitchell explained. "I like the coaches a lot. They have really nice facilities."

Mitchell currently lists Louisville, Kentucky and Tennessee as his favorites, but according to Mitchell, one program seems to have an edge. "I grew up a Louisville fan and I really hope to play there."

Mitchell told ITV that he is scheduled to take the ACT in June and that he won't have any problem qualifying.
