Wednesday, Pitino traveled to Raleigh, N.C., Purvis' hometown, to make an appearance with the nation's top-ranked point guard prospect.
So what is Purvis thinking about Louisville now that Fuller, his main connection to the program, has joined forces with Frank Haith in Columbia, Mo?
"Right now I'm just talking things over with my family," Purvis said. "Honestly, I'm not focused on it [recruitment] and I'm just working on getting better."
Though Pitino wasn't able to communicate with Purvis on his visit, the Louisville head coach has spoken with the five-star guard since Fuller's departure last week.
"[He said] with him being the head coach he's going to be the one coaching me," Purvis said. "I had a great relationship with Tim. He [Pitino] wants me to develop a great relationship with him too."
Though his relationship with Fuller was a major reason Purvis committed to Louisville, it wasn't the only factor in his decision.
"I committed to Louisville and there were other things that I liked, not only just Tim Fuller," Purvis said. "I've got to go where it's best for me. Tim could tell me all the things in the world but if it wasn't the best situation for me I wouldn't have chosen to go to Louisville."
Back to the original question: Is Purvis still committed to Louisville?
"Until something changes, yes I am," Purvis said.
Purvis said he has no plans to visit Louisville once Pitino hires his new staff.
