The four-star 2012 quarterback prospect from Memphis (TN) Melrose, led his team to the Badger Sport 7 on 7 championship game last weekend, and recently picked up a scholarship offer from Alabama.
Despite the new interest from the Crimson Tide, Gross, 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, told Scout.com's Chad Simmons that Louisville and Kentucky are the leaders in his recruitment. Gross told Simmons, who rated him the top QB prospect at the star-laden 7 on 7 tournament, that he currently favors Charlie Strong's program over the Wildcats and Mississippi State.
"I call Coach Strong a lot," Gross told InsideTheVille.com. "Coach Strong is a very nice coach. He can help me a whole lot and he said he likes me because I'm very coachable. He's really the only one I talk to [at Louisville] because they got a new quarterback coach. Coach [Shawn] Watson has been writing me but I haven't talked to him."
Though Gross favors Louisville, the nation's No. 11-ranked quarterback doesn't seem in a rush to make a college decision. Though he plans to attend Ole Miss, LSU, Kentucky and Mississippi State's camps this summer, Gross probably will take his official visits in the fall before making a decision.
"The visit [to Louisville] will tell me a whole lot," said Gross. "I'm going to visit for a good game on their schedule, maybe homecoming."
Gross finished his junior season with 2,333 yards passing, 34 touchdowns and six interceptions.
