Earlier this week, Parnell, who runs a 4.42 forty-yard dash, received a visit from Bedford, Charlie Strong's defensive coordinator.
"It went good," Parnell said. "He was just saying how they were recruiting me hard and I am high on their board. He asked me what I was looking for in a college and I told him education-wise and if they [school] produce [NFL] defensive backs."
Bedford knows a little about producing NFL defensive backs. He's sent a bunch of players to the league, including former Florida star Joe Haden and former Louisville standout Johnny Patrick, a third round draft selection in 2011.
"He told me he's coached a long time and that's he's produced a lot of NFL defensive backs like Joe Haden," Parnell said. "He produces defensive backs that go to the league and he told me to look for a coach that can help get you to the league. I was really listening to what he was telling me because it was true. We had a good conversation."
After his visit with Bedford, Parnell says that Louisville is definitely in his Top 5, along with Kentucky, Miami, Alabama and LSU. Louisville and Kentucky are the only two schools to offer on his list of favorites.
"Louisville is definitely one of my top schools," Parnell said. "I've talked to Coach B.J. [Brian Jean-Mary] and Coach Bedford. We've had good conversations. After talking to Coach Bedford today I'd definitely put Louisville in my Top 5. Louisville has been recruiting me very hard and Coach B.J. has already been down here one time and he's talking about coming back to see me for the spring game this Friday."
Parnell, who said he might visit Louisville next month, said that coaches from East Carolina, NC State, Miami, Alabama have also indicated they plan to attend his spring game.
As a junior, Parnell, who is blessed with quick hips and solid ball skills, registered 83 tackles and four interceptions.
"Right now I'm waiting it out, but I'm thinking about it [decision]," Parnell said. "I'm going to evaluate all the schools on their education and how their program is. Right now I haven't made up my mind, but I am hoping to get it over with this summer and not have to worry about during my senior season."
