J.R. Smith: "It went great!"

Talented swingman J.R. Smith talked with ITV Wednesday evening and discussed his visit with Head Coach Rick Pitino.

As InsidetheVille.com first reported on Tuesday, Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino and Assistant Kevin Willard were scheduled to visit J.R. Smith on Wednesday.

Both coaches did visit with the talented swingman Wednesday afternoon at Saint Benedict Prep in Newark, NJ and according to Smith the visit went great.

"We talked about what I can do to continue to become a better player," Smith said of his discussion with Pitino. "He also told me what he can do for me to make for a better player for in the future."

As Smith mentioned in our previous interview with him, he is expecting to make a commitment to the Cardinals over the coming weeks and possibly during his visit to Louisville.

His tone didn't change during our discussion on Wednesday evening. When I asked Smith if he is looking forward to learning from Pitino, he quickly replied, "definately."

Smith also told me that he discussed what the Louisville program will be like when he would arrive, as well as the outlook for the Cardinals.

"He was telling me what players would be there when I get there," continued Smith. "He was also telling what type of players he plans on bringing in with me."

One of the players that Smith can expect to see is a familiar face in Taquan Dean. The two became close friends during Smith's freshman year in high school. He told me that the two of them are "real close" friends.

Also, according to Smith, no other coaches are currently scheduled to visit with him prior to his trip to Louisville in three weeks.
