During his career at Louisville Brewer became a fan favorite and became more affectionately known as "Boo." After every made basket, steal or other impressive play made by Brewer, Freedom Hall rang with a chorus of "Boo" as the fans expressed their appreciation.
Since finishing his career at Louisville, Brewer has played in the CBA and USBL, as well as professionally overseas in Italy, Turkey, Poland and Hungary.
I recently caught with "Boo" and discussed an array of topics.
ITV: What are you currently doing?
Brewer: Playing professional basketball overseas, in Europe.
ITV: How's that going for you?
Brewer: It's going pretty good for me, I just enjoy playing basketball.
ITV: What's your current average?
Brewer: I'm averaging 32.7 a game right now.
ITV: Do you miss hearing the "boo's" from the Freedom Hall crowd cheering for you?
Brewer: I miss it a little, that was a great time. I still get a chance to come to a couple games every year with my son, my daughter and my wife and hopefully some day my son will play here and I can sit back and hear the "boo's" for him.
ITV: So you are able to catch the team play?
Brewer: I come quite a bit. I'm usually home during Christmas and times like that, so when I'm home I always try and make it out to see them play. I really like this style of play that they are playing right now. It's my style of play.
ITV: Talk about your time playing here.
Brewer: I had a great career playing here under Coach Crum. That's something I think about every day and I'm so thankful that he was my coach. Not many guys get to play for a Hall of Fame coach. I was really blessed.
ITV: Have you ever thought about going into coaching?
Brewer: Yeah, I have a bit. That's God's will if he will lead me there. Right now I am coaching my son and my daughter, so I am really enjoying that.
