Brown, 6'1, 285-pound, made visits to Louisville, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State this summer. He also says he's considering Georgia Tech and South Florida even though he didn't visit either school this summer.
"I liked all three the schools, the campuses, all three cities and the coaches," said Brown, who didn't name any favorites. "I'm hoping to make a decision before our first game. I'm still kind of sorting things out. My parents are going to support me where ever I choose, but they'd like for me to stay closer to home. But I kind of want to get away."
Brown visited Louisville in June and maintains contact with assistant Ron Dugans."I like Louisville," Brown said. "I like my recruiting coach, Coach Dugans. I like Coach (Clint) Hurtt. It felt like family up there. I like Coach Strong and the way he runs things and I think they're going to change the program around up there. I also liked the facilities."
Vanderbilt also stands out on Brown's list. "I like Vanderbilt for the academics and also they play in the SEC," said Brown. "I really think Coach Franklin is going to turn that program around. It was a good visit. I liked it."
Brown liked the small-town atmosphere at Mississippi State, another SEC program under strong consideration. "I like them, too, it's in the SEC," Brown said. "When I was there it felt like a small town atmosphere and I liked that. I liked the coaches."
Rated the No. 85 defensive tackle nationally, Brown knows what he's looking for in a college.
"I'm looking for a school with good academics so I can get a good degree," Brown said. "I want a school that has high competition level and a place where I fit in."
